

Washington: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, met at the White House in Washington with US Vice-President J D Vance.
At the outset of the meeting, the Foreign Minister conveyed greetings of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to President Donald Trump and to the Vice President, along with His Majesty’s best wishes of good health and well-being to them, further progress and prosperity to the friendly American people, and continued growth and fruitful cooperation in Omani–US relations.
For his part, the US Vice President asked the Foreign Minister to convey the greetings and appreciation of President Trump, as well as his personal greetings, to His Majesty, wishing him continued success and the Omani people further advancement and prosperity and the two friendly countries continued development and flourishing ties.
The meeting reaffirmed the depth of the historic and strategic friendship between the Sultanate of Oman and the United States, and the keenness of both countries to further strengthen and expand cooperation across various fields in a manner that serves their mutual interests and supports security and stability in the region.
The two sides also reviewed the indirect US–Iran negotiations hosted by the Sultanate of Oman and the diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching a fair and sustainable agreement on the nuclear issue, ensuring the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear energy programme.
The Foreign Minister explained that the negotiations have so far achieved significant and unprecedented progress that could form the main foundation for the desired agreement.
He expressed his deep appreciation for the serious efforts undertaken by the parties involved and for the constructive ideas and proposals that have helped narrow differences towards a respectable agreement. He made special mention of US Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and Iranian Foreign Minister Dr Seyed Abbas Araghchi, affirming Oman’s commitment to continuing its efforts to support dialogue and facilitate rapprochement among the parties, based on its firm belief that diplomacy and dialogue can yield solutions to outstanding issues.
The US Vice President, in turn, commended Oman’s responsible role and tangible efforts in the region, praising its mediation and sponsorship of the negotiations and its contribution to advancing understanding and addressing regional issues through diplomatic means.
The meeting was attended by Talal bin Sulaiman al Rahbi, Oman’s Ambassador to the United States and a number of officials from both sides.
