Muscat: The total number of employees at the Ministry of Health increased from 37,732 in 2021 to 44,298 in 2025, an increase of 17%, reflecting the expansion of health services, said the Minister of Health at the annual media briefing on Sunday.

Omanization percentage has increased to 71.4% in 2025, with high rates achieved in vital categories such as nursing and medical support jobs, while continuing to rely on expatriate staff in specialized fields until they are localized through education and scholarship programs.

He said that the health infrastructure witnessed expansion during the past year, with the completion of more than 11 projects, most notably the Central Public Health Laboratory, Khasab Referral Hospital, and Al-Suwaiq Hospital.

There are currently more than 15 projects under implementation during the years 2026-2027, the most important of which are Sur Referral Hospital, Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan Hospital, a health center in the state of Dibba, Saham Hospital, Bausher Health Center, and Jaalan Bani Bu Ali Hospital.

The ministry intends to establish more than 20 future projects to expand the scope of health services to cover all parts of the country, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 in creating a leading health system characterized by flexibility, quality, and sustainability.
