Muscat - Oman Air has announced the launch of direct flights between Muscat and Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, starting in June 2026.

The new service will operate with two flights per week, providing travelers with convenient access between the two capitals and enhancing air connectivity between the Sultanate of Oman and the Central Asian region; this will be the eighth destination announced by the company since last December.

Tashkent, one of Uzbekistan's largest cities, is a rising tourist destination renowned for its unique culture, rich historical landmarks, and vibrant parks.

These flights are expected to boost inbound tourism to the Sultanate of Oman, as well as strengthen bilateral trade and cultural ties. Given their historical location on the Silk Road, Oman and Uzbekistan share a rich cultural heritage and deep historical roots, offering travelers the opportunity to explore two distinct yet historically intertwined destinations.

Oman Air CEO Con Korfiatis explained that the launch of the Tashkent route reflects Oman Air’s continued focus on building a commercially sustainable route network that balances direct demand with growing strategic markets.

Central Asia is an increasingly important region for both tourist and business travel, and this new service has been designed to support the Sultanate of Oman’s broad tourism ambitions by attracting visitors from Uzbekistan and the surrounding region.

He noted that this station will give Oman Air passengers seamless access to one of the most attractive destinations in Central Asia, and that these flights, which take only 4 hours, will provide a convenient option for travelers for tourism or business.
