Muscat: The third edition of the national discounts and promotions campaign, ‘Oman Celebrates’, concluded here yesterday with a well-attended ceremony presided over by Eng Ghalib bin Said al Maamari, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry.

The event was organized to celebrate the success of the campaign, which ran from January 11 to February 11, 2026. It was held in cooperation with several government and private entities, including the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, Muscat Municipality, Consumer Protection Authority, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Riyada), Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Oman Arab Bank, and Visa International, within the framework of a national partnership that reflects the integrated roles in supporting the national economy and stimulating commercial activity.

Underscoring its success, the third edition included 1,574 participating retail outlets across the Sultanate of Oman, compared to 814 in the second edition. This reflects a doubling of participation and the rapid growth in the commercial sector's engagement with the initiative. This figure underscores the increasing confidence of private sector institutions in the campaign and its establishment as an annual economic event with a direct impact on the local market.

The campaign also saw widespread consumer participation across the governorates, contributing to the revitalization of markets and shopping centers, boosting purchasing power, and stimulating the economic cycle, especially with the approach of the holy month of Ramadhan.

With genuine discounts and regulatory controls, Nasra bint Sultan al Habsi, Director General of Trade at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, confirmed that the campaign included discounts of at least 30 percent, along with various promotional offers including raffles, prizes, and instant gifts, all within clear regulations that ensure transparency and protect consumer rights.

"The campaign reflected a clear integration between regulatory frameworks and digital transformation, as participation procedures were facilitated through electronic services, which contributed to expediting application approvals and increasing the efficiency of procedures," added Azza bint Ibrahim al Kindi, Director of Commercial Affairs and E-Commerce.

Ali bin Hamad al Maamari, Director of the Licensing Department at the Ministry, emphasized that the "Oman Celebrates" campaign is no longer just a seasonal campaign, but has become a national platform for regulating the commercial offers environment and enhancing confidence in the market.

He also noted that the Licensing Department was keen to facilitate the procedures for issuing and approving discount licenses, while adhering to the regulations that ensure transparency and protect consumer rights. He emphasized that digital integration and the development of electronic services contributed to expediting procedures and reducing the time required to process applications, thus enhancing the smooth participation of institutions across various governorates.

From the consumers' perspective, Asil bint Maktoum bin Rashid al Abri praised the third edition, noting a significant leap in the diversity and quality of offers.

She explained that the campaign encompassed multiple sectors, including technology, fashion, and household goods, and affirmed that the credibility of the discounts strengthened public trust in the campaign, making it an anticipated annual event.

The ceremony concluded with the honoring of supporting and participating entities in recognition of their efforts in ensuring the success of the third edition of the campaign, which exemplified the integration of government regulation and commercial initiative, serving the national economy and society.
