Shaima, Asher sizzle in Thailand Karate Cup 2026

Muscat: Team Shito-Ryu Oman Karate Do Kai reaped rich rewards at the prestigious Thailand Karate Cup 2026 with their two athletes accounting for five medals on Monday.


Shaima Ahmed al Shali won two gold and a silver while Asher Mathew Bibine clinched a gold and a silver medal at the Rotana Hall of the Bundit University Indoor Stadium in the Thailand capital of Bangkok. The athletes competed under the training of Shihan Bava Ahamed.


Talented Shaima claimed both gold medals in the under-18 black belt category for kata and kumite to assert her supremacy in the age category.


She also claimed a silver in the highly competitive Female Open Age category. It was the winners’ competition for under-30 years female.


Her strength, technical mastery, and indomitable spirit stood as a shining testament to perseverance and elite training at the Shito-Ryu Oman Karate Do Kai.


Asher also rose to the occasion in the boys section as the two dedicated students at the Shito-Ryu Oman made history in the highly competitive international championship with extraordinary courage, discipline, and the true spirit of Karate-Do on a global stage.


Asher won the gold in the under-12 black belt category and claimed a silver in the under-15 black belt in kumite competition.


Asher delivered a remarkable performance and proudly secured the Silver medal in the higher age section of under-15. His precision, focus, and unwavering determination exemplified the highest standards of martial arts excellence.


The team management of International Shito-Ryu Karate Centres in the Sultanate of Oman, extended their congratulations. “On behalf of the entire karate community, we extend our most sincere and heartfelt congratulations to our champions and the entire leadership team.

Your achievements inspire not only Oman, but the global martial arts fraternity. May this victory mark the beginning of even greater triumphs ahead,” a statement said.


Team Shito-Ryu Oman Karate Do Kai technical team included Shihan Bava Ahamed (team head coach), Sherly Mathew (team manager) and Renshi Haleen Sree Hruday (team coach).


“Their guidance, discipline, and unwavering belief in their students have elevated Team Shito-Ryu Oman Karate Do Kai to international acclaim,” the management statement added.
