MUSCAT: The Projects, Tenders and Local Content Authority has unveiled a development pipeline exceeding RO 1.5 billion during the Government Projects Forum 2026 held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, outlining around 10,000 tenders planned across 57 government entities.

Engineer Bader bin Salem al Maamari, Chairman of the Authority, said the projects include more than RO 475 million in approved developments and over RO 1 billion in projects currently under study, highlighting the breadth of investment opportunities available to local companies. He noted that the initiative reflects the scale of ongoing development programmes and reinforces the government’s commitment to strengthening private sector participation.

Opportunities allocated to national companies and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) exceed RO 90 million in approved projects and more than RO 203 million in projects under study, supporting local supply chains and increasing domestic economic value. Key sectors expected to generate the largest tendering activity include construction, procurement, public services, information technology, electromechanical contracting and consultancy services, ensuring broad sectoral and geographic participation across the Sultanate of Oman’s governorates.

The Authority also presented a detailed overview of infrastructure projects, including ports, roads, dams, public buildings, utilities, pipeline networks and well-drilling works, along with tender schedules and project readiness status to help companies plan early participation. Muscat Governorate recorded the highest number of tenders under study at 413, followed by Al Batinah South Governorate (129) and Al Batinah North Governorate (101). For approved tenders, Muscat Governorate again led with 314, followed by Al Sharqiyah South Governorate (111) and Dhofar Governorate (69).

Engineer Saeed bin Hamad al Amri, Director General of Tenders, noted that contracts awarded through the Tender Board exceeded RO 1.7 billion in 2025, underscoring the accelerating pace of development spending. He encouraged companies to enhance bid quality, promote fair competition and strengthen local content through the use of national products, localisation of expertise and SME partnerships.

Infrastructure projects accounted for the largest share of approved project values at more than 58 per cent, followed by supplies, services and construction-related activities, indicating continued government emphasis on strategic infrastructure expansion.

The forum also featured specialised dialogue sessions covering construction, procurement, public services and information technology sectors, addressing future project pipelines, tendering procedures, evaluation standards and sustainability considerations. During the event, the Authority launched the “Esnad” mobile application, enabling companies and beneficiaries to track tenders, access procurement data and manage procedures digitally, reinforcing transparency, governance and efficiency across the national tendering system. — ONA
