Mobile subscriptions in Oman continue rising

MUSCAT: The total number of mobile subscriptions in the Sultanate of Oman recorded a 7 per cent rise by the end of 2025, reaching 8,054,413 subscriptions compared with the same period in 2024, according to the latest figures issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information.


Active post-paid mobile subscriptions increased by 3 per cent to 1,273,795 subscriptions, while prepaid subscriptions registered a modest 1 per cent rise, reaching 5,148,166 subscriptions.


Internet of Things (IoT) subscriptions also recorded strong growth of 42 per cent, reaching 1,632,452 by the end of December 2025. Internet services likewise showed notable development, with total active mobile broadband subscriptions rising to 5,421,911, while total active fixed broadband subscriptions grew by 3 per cent to 598,907.


Fibre-optic subscriptions increased by 9 per cent to 356,897, while fixed 5G subscriptions posted a slight 1 per cent rise to 219,862 by the end of December 2025. In contrast, fixed 4G subscriptions declined by 53 per cent to 10,448.


Subscriptions to Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) services fell by 34 per cent to 9,856, while satellite subscriptions rose sharply by 173 per cent to 1,101. Other subscriptions — including internet access via power lines, Ethernet and leased lines — decreased by 9 per cent to 743 by the end of December 2025 compared with the same period in 2024. — ONA
