MUSCAT: A public fitness challenge aimed at bringing movement into everyday community life will take place on Saturday, February 7, at Souq es Sabt, Ras Al Hamra Golf Club (PDO) from 8:30 am to 1 pm. The event is part of a health-focused initiative being rolled out by the Global Shapers Muscat Hub under its Shapers4Health platform.
The event will transform one of Muscat’s most popular Saturday markets into an open fitness space, integrating physical activity into a familiar social environment.
Known for attracting families, residents, entrepreneurs and local talent, Souq es Sabt provides what organisers describe as an ideal setting to make exercise more visible, accessible and inclusive.
The Shapers4Health Challenge is a team-based activation designed to promote movement, fitness and healthier lifestyles in a fun and engaging format. Around 60 participants, evenly divided between men and women, are expected to take part. The challenge will be conducted by Khanjar Fitness Oman and is open to the public free of charge.
Participants will rotate through dynamic, full-body activities focusing on endurance, strength and teamwork. The format is adaptable to different fitness levels, with an emphasis on collaboration, friendly competition and community participation.
In addition to the challenge, the programme will feature physiotherapist-led warm-up and mobility sessions, live fitness demonstrations and interactive engagement activities. Dedicated health and wellness stations will provide guidance on nutrition, hydration and general well-being.
The initiative is supported by several community partners. Souq es Sabt is the venue partner, while Khanjar Fitness serves as challenge activation partner. Fayha Fresh Delights and Sprouts are refreshment partners, Tanafus is the strategic technology partner, and FrostFitness is a supporter partner. Airflex and Protein House will provide gifts for challenge winners.
The event reflects the Global Shapers Muscat Hub’s ongoing focus on youth-led, community-driven programmes that promote health, well-being and active lifestyles in Oman.
