Al Nahda, Oman Club advance to HM Cup final

Muscat: Al Nahda Club and Oman Club secured their places in the final of His Majesty's the Sultan's Cup after the conclusion of the second-leg matches of the semifinals on Thursday night, in a highly competitive matches marked by intensity, quality performances and strong attendance.


At Al Buraimi Sports Complex, Al Nahda delivered one of their finest performances of the season, defeating Seeb 2–0 in the second leg to overturn their 1–0 defeat in the first leg and book their place in the final on aggregate.


Al Nahda entered the match with clear determination to reverse the outcome and imposed their style from the opening minutes. Azzan al Tamimi opened the scoring, restoring parity in the aggregate scoreline and injecting confidence into the home side.


Maintaining their organised pressure and disciplined shape, Al Nahda doubled their advantage through Ahed al Mashaikhi, sealing a deserved victory. Despite Seeb’s attempts to respond, Al Nahda’s solid defensive structure ensured the result remained unchanged until the final whistle.


OMAN CLUB THROUGH


In the other semi final, played at Al Saada Sports Complex in Salalah, Oman Club secured the second qualification spot after drawing 1–1 with Al Nasr in the second leg, benefitting from their 2–0 victory in the first leg to progress on aggregate.


Al Nassr took the lead through Abdullah al Musharafi, but Ahmed al Siyabi equalised for Oman Club in a match that remained fiercely contested throughout. The encounter turned more challenging for Al Nasr after they were reduced to 10 men following two red cards, one of which was awarded after the referee reviewed the incident using the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).


Despite Al Nasr’s spirited resistance, Oman Club managed the closing stages with composure and tactical awareness, confirming their qualification. The performance once again highlighted Oman Club’s consistency in decisive fixtures, as the team continues to impress under Moroccan head coach Idriss al Morabit, relying on a cohesive squad that blends young talent with disciplined collective play.


With qualification secured, Al Nahda and Oman Club will meet in the HM's Cup final, scheduled for February 14 at 8 pm at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.


The showpiece match will be held under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham al Said, Minister of State and Governor of Muscat, bringing an exciting football season to a climactic conclusion as two ambitious sides battle for the prestigious title.
