MUSCAT: Al Seeb continued their dominance at the top of the Jindal League standings after securing a dramatic and valuable 2–1 victory over closest rivals Al Nahda, in a thrilling summit clash at Al Seeb Sports Stadium during Week 11, played in front of an impressive and passionate crowd.

Al Nahda started strongly and imposed themselves early, showing better organisation and attacking movement in the final third. Their pressure paid off just before the break when Ahed al Mashaykhi capitalised on a swift counterattack to fire home the opener in the 44th minute, giving his side a deserved halftime lead.

THE SECOND HALF DIFFERENT STORY

Al Seeb returned with greater intensity, pushing forward and making key substitutions to energise their attack. The tempo increased as chances came at both ends, before Salah al Yahyaei produced a moment of brilliance in the 85th minute, weaving past defenders and unleashing a powerful strike to level the score.

Rather than settling for a draw, Al Seeb continued their relentless pressure, and their persistence paid off at the death. In the 90th minute, Nasser al Rawahi rose highest to head home the winner, sparking wild celebrations in the stands. The closing moments also saw Al Nahda defender Thani al Rashdi sent off, before the final whistle confirmed Al Seeb’s crucial win.

The result lifts Al Seeb to 31 points, extending their lead over second-placed Al Nahda, who remain on 22.

Sohar improved after the restart and gradually took control before finally breaking the deadlock in the 71st minute. Mutasim al Maqbali converted from a corner-kick situation, finishing neatly inside the box to score the decisive goal.

The hosts held firm until the final whistle to collect three valuable points, moving up to 22 points in third place, while Samayil remain ninth with 11 points.
