Medical conference in Samayil highlights challenges in emergency care

SAMAYIL: The Omani Association for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Conference 2026 convened in Samayil to address the key challenges faced by emergency departments. Organised in collaboration with Samayil Hospital, the event brought together more than 90 medical and paramedical staff, students, and specialists from the Ministry of Health and the Oman Medical Association.


The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Mohammed bin Thuwaini al Said and attended by dignitaries and officials. Dr Zakia bint Rashid al Dughaishi, Director of Samayil Hospital, highlighted the rapid development of Oman’s health sector, noting improvements in infrastructure and health services aligned with the nation’s vision for an integrated and advanced health system.

Dr Mahmoud bin Nasser al Rahbi, President of the Omani Association for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, said the conference serves as a platform to exchange professional experiences, promote evidence-based practice and enhance teamwork across medical disciplines, aiming to improve decision-making, patient safety and efficiency in emergency care.


The conference featured three scientific sessions: Emergency Medicine and Resuscitation covering legal and ethical considerations, soft skills, lessons from practice, and updates to cardiopulmonary resuscitation per American Heart Association guidelines; Children’s Emergency and Resuscitation focusing on neonatal resuscitation, diabetic ketoacidosis in children, seizure management and paediatric emergency protocols; and Emergency and Resuscitation of Surgical Cases and Injuries addressing cardiac arrest from injuries, pre-hospital first aid, and ENT emergencies.


The event emphasised providing practical, evidence-based content and fostering integration among health disciplines to enhance emergency care services in Oman.
