Nizwa: Oman Agriculture Development Company today opened Nizwa Dates Industrial Complex. This strategic project serves as an example of investments that generate direct economic value and social impact and contribute to the development of Omani dates processing industries.

The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Abdulsalam bin Mohammed al Murshidi, Chairman of Oman Investment Authority (OIA).

The project aligns with OIA's strategy to convert national resources into high-value-added products and maximise returns from integrated value chains through investment in vital and priority sectors.

Nizwa Dates Industrial Complex occupies a building area of 35,000 square metres. It envisages an annual production capacity of 30,000 tonnes, in addition to a storage capacity of 30,000 pallets using various storage methods (frozen, chilled and dry).

The complex includes processing halls spanning 18,000 square metres and encompassing all post-harvest operations, including receiving, weighing, sterilisation and storage—towards the final stages of sorting, packaging and processing.

All the operations of the complex adhere to the highest quality and food safety standards. The project already obtained several international quality certifications and adopted environment-friendly solutions, including the use of solar energy and water recycling.

Oman Agriculture Development Company (a subsidiary of Oman Food Investments company) specialises in developing and implementing strategic agriculture and food projects aimed to enhance food security and boost agricultural value chains in the Sultanate of Oman. — ONA
