In Oman, a remarkable trend is unfolding. Individuals with 40 years of age and above are embracing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to stay connected with the rapidly changing world. And being one of them, I am motivated by a desire to remain relevant and engaged, while defying age stereotypes and diving into AI learning.
Driven by curiosity and a willingness to adapt, we are enrolling in AI courses, attending workshops and joining online forums. This shift is largely driven by the need to stay connected with tech-savvy family members and remain active in the workforce.
By combining the expertise with new skills, we are creating a unique blend of traditional knowledge and modern technology as Oman accelerates its AI adoption. I have full faith that this generation's efforts will be crucial in bridging the digital divide and fostering a culture of lifelong learning given that Oman is rapidly embracing Artificial Intelligence (AI) across various sectors, marking a significant shift in its approach to technological innovation.
As part of its Oman Vision 2040 strategy, the Sultanate of Oman is investing heavily in AI to drive economic diversification, enhance efficiency and position itself as a leader in the digital age.
One of the key areas where AI is making a significant impact is in healthcare. Oman's healthcare sector is leveraging AI-powered diagnostic tools to improve patient outcomes and streamline medical processes.
For instance, new AI-driven diagnostic systems to detect diseases like cancer more accurately and at an early stage have been introduced. This not only enhances patient care but also reduces the burden on healthcare professionals.
In the education sector, AI is being used to personalise learning experiences for students. The Ministry of Education has been working on initiatives to integrate AI-powered learning platforms, enabling students to learn at their own pace and explore subjects in a more interactive way. This approach is expected to improve learning outcomes and equip students with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Oman's transportation sector is also benefitting from AI, with the introduction of smart traffic management systems. These systems use AI to optimise traffic flow, reduce congestion and improve road safety.
Oman's private sector is also embracing AI, with many companies investing in AI-powered solutions to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
Oman's commitment to AI is evident in its participation in global AI forums and its collaboration with international organisations to develop AI capabilities. The country is also focusing on developing a skilled workforce, with initiatives to upskill and reskill professionals in AI and related fields.
With all the ongoing initiatives, Oman's embrace of AI is a testament to its commitment to innovation and technological advancement and as the country continues to invest in AI, it is poised to reap significant benefits, from improved public services to enhanced economic growth.
