MUSCAT: The Royal Academy of Management (RAM) has launched the Executive Programme in Local Administration.
This comes in line with national directions to strengthen administrative and economic decentralisation and empower local leaders and competencies across the governorates.
The initiative is designed to enhance the leadership and administrative capacities of local administration professionals, improve institutional performance and contribute to sustainable local development by enhancing the ability to respond effectively to local needs.
Designed for 25 participants, the programme reflects RAM’s ongoing commitment to preparing local leaders to address the requirements of the emerging developmental phase. Participants will gain practical and integrated knowledge and skills in modern local administration, development planning, project management and local investment, while strengthening their leadership competencies and adopting effective management practices. The programme enables participants to apply best practices in local administration, develop strategic plans that support national priorities outlined in Oman Vision 2040, and identify viable projects and manage projects efficiently. It also strengthens their capacity to foster community partnerships, build effective stakeholder relationships and community partnerships, and adopt innovative solutions that promote digital transformation and enhance local administrative performance.
Dr Fathiya bint Abdullah al Rashdi, Vice-President for Programme Affairs at RAM, stated that the Executive Programme in Local Administration focuses on developing practical capabilities that enable local administration leaders to plan, implement and monitor initiatives efficiently. She emphasised that the programme adopts an applied methodology that combines theoretical knowledge with practical, real-world case studies from the local work environment, thereby enhancing institutional coordination and fostering innovative developmental solutions.
Sheikha al Maskari, Programme Supervisor, highlighted that the programme provides an integrated learning experience, enabling participants to apply modern administrative tools within the local work environment, efficiently monitor the implementation of initiatives and projects. Participants will also benefit from having access to a platform for exchanging expertise and developing practical solutions that enhance operational processes and improve performance efficiency in local administrations.
The Executive Programme in Local Administration includes a number of bespoke, carefully designed modules aimed at building both theoretical foundations and practical skills. These include Development Planning and Project Management, Leadership Skills and Effective Management, Sustainable Development and Local Investment, Innovation and Modern Technologies, Partnerships and Stakeholder Management, and the Fundamentals of Local Administration. - ONA
