Muscat: The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs said that the crescent moon of Shaaban 1447 AH has been sighted on Monday. Consequently, Tuesday, January 20, 2026, will be the first day of the month of Shaaban.

According to the Omani calendar, the month of Shaaban will be 30 days, with the first day of the holy month of Ramadhan expected to fall on Thursday, February 19, 2026, and is expected to last 29 days. Eid Al Fitr is therefore expected to be on Friday, March 20, 2026.

The official calendar also indicates that the Eid Al Fitr holiday will begin on Thursday, March 19, 2026, and continue for five days and work will resume on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

On December 28, 2025, the Council of Ministers approved a policy for the advance announcement of national and religious holidays at the beginning of each Gregorian year, with the exception of the Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha holidays, which will continue to be announced in accordance with declarations by the Main Moonsighting Committee tasked with determining the new crescent moons of Hijri months.
