

MUSCAT: The otherwise frozen night at the Muscat club, located between the Wadi Kabir mountains, warmed up with the stomping rhythm of Yumna Ajin, an Indian singer known for her unique blend of Arabic, Asian and Indian folk music at the 'Chandrika Vasantham' translated as the Spring of the Crescent last week.
Yumna entered the audience's hearts with her melodious vocals, singing songs like "Ya Aali, Reham Wali...", which rocked the stage. She displayed a perfect mix of a variety of music genres like pop, classical, bhajans, Bollywood, folk, ghazal and Sufi, and sang in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam to the rousing applause of the packed audience.
She aptly blended Qawwali, Hindi and Malayalam mega mix to the crooning audience who wanted more as the Chandrikavasantham music evening progressed into midnight capturing the hearts of music lovers in the city.
Yumna has performed in over 700 stage shows worldwide and has also participated in reality shows like Indian Idol Junior and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs. Being one of the ten finalists selected in Indian Idol Junior is also a notable achievement in Yumna's musical journey.
Prominent singers Shafi Kollam and Rehna admitted that they were happy to be a part of the musical evening with a great combination of veteran Mappilapattu singers. Singers like Shweta Ashok, Nikesh Millennium, who have already made waves in music industry, also rocked the Wadi Al Kabir Stadium.
Shafeel Kannur and Alia Abdul Razak, who came to fulfill the eternal desire of Chandrika's readers and viewers of visual media in Oman, Chandrika Vasantham, were there to give a fun-filled spring time to the thousands in the stadium that was packed till midnight.
