WASHINGTON - The United States is withdrawing some personnel from key bases ‌in the region as a precaution given ‌heightened regional ‍tensions, a ‌U.S. ‍official told Reuters on Wednesday, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The disclosure follows remarks by a senior Iranian official who told Reuters earlier on ‍Wednesday ‌that Tehran had warned neighbors hosting U.S. troops ‌that it would hit American bases if Washington strikes.

The U.S. Embassy has warned American citizens to leave Iran immediately, citing a significant risk of arrest or detention for U.S. passport holders.

Canada’s government has included Iran in an urgent travel warning, urging Canadians to avoid travel due to political tensions and security threats.

The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), has advised against all travel to Iran. "If you are a British national already in Iran, either resident or visitor, carefully consider your presence there," it said in a statement.

The Indian Embassy in Tehran issued a fresh advisory urging all Indian nationals, including students, pilgrims, businesspersons, and tourists, to leave Iran immediately by available commercial flights amid ongoing protests and an evolving security situation.
