Food Development Company, a subsidiary of Salalah Mills Company, is launching its industrial bakery at Khazaen Economic City in the Wilayat of Barka, Al Batinah South Governorate, on January 14, 2026, under the auspices of Eng Masoud bin Said al Hashmi, Governor of Al Batinah South. The launch ceremony will be attended by a number of officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources and dignitaries from the wilayat.
The opening of the industrial bakery aims to enhance the food manufacturing sector in the Sultanate of Oman, support the national food security system and meet the needs of local and regional markets in accordance with the highest international standards.
The facility is strategically located within Khazaen Economic City and is considered one of the advanced industrial projects in the field of integrated fresh and frozen bakery solutions. It targets supplying several vital sectors, including hotels, restaurants, retail outlets, catering companies and airlines in Oman and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, as well as other markets in Asia and Africa.
The company’s total investment amounts to RO 25 million. The factory is built on a land area of 20,000 square metres, with a total built-up area of 24,000 square metres. It includes 10 modern production lines with a daily production capacity of up to 80 tonnes, in addition to a storage capacity of 1,836 pallet positions, equivalent to approximately 2,000 tonnes.
Food Development Company relies on the latest global industrial technologies in its operations, while adhering to international standards for quality and food safety. The factory has obtained several internationally recognised certifications, including HACCP, FSSC 22000 and Halal certification, in addition to the Made in Oman accreditation.
