

KHASAB: The opening of Khasab Hospital represents a significant milestone in the healthcare system of Musandam Governorate as it will offer specialized medical services and modern equipment which would improve the quality of healthcare and bring services closer to citizens and residents.
Dr Abdulaziz bin Hamed al Balushi, Director of Khasab Hospital, said that the hospital would provide high-quality specialized healthcare services to the people of the governorate. He added that the hospital would improve healthcare quality by providing the latest diagnostic equipment, such as radiology and endoscopy equipment and surgical instruments, in addition to introducing the Visiting Physician programme to alleviate the burden on citizens who had to travel to other governorates for treatment.
He affirmed that the opening of Khasab Hospital is a true embodiment of the healthcare system within the framework of Oman Vision 2040, which aims to provide comprehensive and integrated healthcare services characterized by equity and quality across all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman as well as promote decentralization in the provision of specialized medical services.
He noted that the hospital offers services for the first time in the Musandam Governorate, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), mammography, a burns unit, a physiotherapy and hydrotherapy rehabilitation unit, a day care unit, gastrointestinal endoscopy and advanced surgical and endoscopic procedures.
Regarding critical cases, he explained that the hospital is equipped with five resuscitation beds in the Accident and Emergency Department as well as 14 intensive care beds equipped with the latest technologies in the adult, pediatric, and cardiac intensive care units. This is in addition to a specialized unit for premature and newborn infants.
The hospital has 35 outpatient clinics and a number of specialized inpatient wards for men and women and employs 300 medical and technical staff, Al Balushi said adding that the hospital will expand the visiting physician service to localize healthcare services in the governorate in line with the comprehensive health coverage policy.
Engineer Yousef bin Yaqoub Ambu Ali, Director-General of the Directorate -General of Projects and Engineering Services at the Ministry of Health, said that the importance of Khasab Hospital stems from its strategic location in Musandam Governorate. It contributes to bringing specialized healthcare services closer to citizens and residents. He added that the hospital occupies an area of 106,297 square metres, with a build-up area of 49,463 square metres. It has 178 beds, distributed across a main building for treatment services in addition to supporting buildings and public facilities.
