MUSCAT, JAN 07

Muscat Nights, the festival for all, is illuminating the night skies with bright and aesthetically choreographed displays at major venues as part of a month-long festival.

The Muscat Municipality, organisers of the family festival, stated that each day, up to 2,000 drones take flight to create captivating displays that entertain audiences of various nationalities, as well as citizens.

In Qurum Natural Park, the drones create dazzling spectacles that wow spectators, who eagerly cheer for more as their favorite images come to life in the sky.

The drone shows are a highlight of the Muscat Nights 2026 series of events, offering aerial displays that tell a narrative reflecting the identity, values, and transformations of the Governorate. This advanced technological experience, combined with precision in execution and symbolic depth, has been captivating visitors and attracting large numbers of guests as the festival progresses.

The shows are presented in a unified narrative format, featuring a sequence of aerial scenes integrated with sound and music. This cohesive viewing experience aims to reflect the features and achievements of the capital in a contemporary visual manner that appeals to visitors of diverse cultural backgrounds and different segments of society.

The aerial formations presented in the shows tell the story of Oman's history, from ancient times as 'Magan' and 'Mazoon', through its Islamic era, trade relations with neighboring countries, modern state-building stages, achievements of the Renaissance under the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the transfer of power to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, and a colorful vision of Oman's future.

The drone shows are based on five main themes that interpret Muscat's history, values, and transformations in an artistic manner. These themes are presented through aerial displays executed using drone formations in a contemporary visual style, ensuring that the content and messages reach diverse visitor groups at different times.

The themes of the shows are categorised into five: 'Muscat: History and Identity', 'Muscat: Present and Achievement', 'People at the Heart of the City', 'Values and Community Spirit', and 'Muscat of Tomorrow and the Future Vision'. Each theme explores different aspects of Muscat's past, present, and future, offering a comprehensive visual experience for visitors.

The drone shows at Muscat Nights are presented from 7pm to 10pm, allowing visitors to choose times that suit them best.
