The Oman Basketball Association (OBA) and Daleel Petroleum have signed a partnership agreement aimed at supporting and developing 3x3 basketball, as part of the Association’s efforts to maximise the role of the private sector’s corporate social responsibility and to provide sustained support for its activities, competitions, and championships at the local, Gulf, Arab and international levels.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the OBA by Eng Khalfan bin Saleh al Naabi, Chairman of the Board, and on behalf of Daleel Petroleum by Mohammed bin Ahmed al Darmaki, General Manager of Human Resources and Corporate Support, in the presence of Saeed bin Ahmed al Habsi, Acting Secretary-General of the Association, along with several company officials.
Under the agreement, a mobile 3x3 basketball court will be provided, enabling the Association to organise tournaments and events in various community locations, contributing to the spread of the game, raising public awareness, and attracting new segments of society to participate.
Speaking to the media, Saeed bin Ahmed al Habsi said that the agreement represents a continuation of the successful cooperation with Daleel Petroleum, which had previously supported 3x3 basketball by providing a mobile court. He noted that this is the second such support offered by the company, reflecting its ongoing commitment to supporting the sports sector.
Al Habsi added that through its strategic partnerships with private sector institutions, the Oman Basketball Association seeks to develop advanced infrastructure for 3x3 basketball courts, enabling it to host tournaments and competitions across all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, in addition to expanding the organisation of Gulf and Arab championships and strengthening the game’s presence in the community.
He praised Daleel Petroleum’s role in supporting 3x3 basketball, stressing that previous initiatives have had a tangible positive impact on revitalising sporting activity and have helped organise tournaments that attracted wide interest from the sports community and the public.
In conclusion, Al Habsi emphasised the importance of such partnerships in achieving the Association’s objectives to develop Omani basketball and broaden its player base, expressing his appreciation and thanks to Daleel Petroleum for this valuable initiative, which falls within the framework of the company’s corporate social responsibility and its prominent role in supporting the sports sector in Oman.
