Muscat: No institution has the right to terminate an employee's services without submitting a request to the Ministry of Labor for review, the Minister of Labour said in response to a query from a Majlis A' Shura member on Wednesday.

"If any company terminates an employee's services without notifying the Ministry, legal action will be taken against it. The Ministry will also handle any complaints from terminated employees," he said.

The minister was replying to the issue of layoffs reported from a leading private sector company that was widely reported in the media.
