

MUSCAT: Al Seeb and Majees will represent Oman at the 44th Arab Clubs Men’s Volleyball Championship in Tunis from January 8 to 18, competing against the top club teams from across the Arab world in one of the region’s most prestigious volleyball events.
The official draw, held in the Kingdom of Bahrain, placed Al Seeb in Group A alongside Iraqi North Refineries, Tajnanet of Algeria, Al Suwaihli of Libya, Espérance Sportive de Tunis, and Qatar SC. Group B includes Al Shurta of Qatar, Al Ittihad of Libya, Al Muharraq of Bahrain, Omani Majees, ES Sahel of Tunisia, and Al Quwa of Palestine.
The tournament kicks off on Thursday, January 8, with three strong matches in Group A: Al-Seeb vs Qatar SC, North Refineries vs Espérance de Tunis, and Tajnanet vs Al Suwaihli. In Group B, Al Shurta opens its campaign against AlQuwa of Palestine, Al Ittihad faces ES Sahel, and Al Muharraq meets Majees.
The Al Seeb delegation is headed by Dr Hamoud al Hassani. The technical and administrative staff includes Ammar al Zadjali (administrator), Jamal al Maamari (head coach), Badr al Subhi and Ayman al Hassani (assistant coaches), Sinan al Shuhoumi (physiotherapist), Badr al Siyabi (accompanying referee), Saeed al Harbi (photographer), and Abdullah al Lahouri (specialist). The squad consists of 14 players: Yousef al Shukaili, Saeed al Rijaibi, Younis al Amri, Adam al Jaradi, Saud al Maamari, Adam al Jalbubi, Abdullah al Maqbali, Noah al Jalboubi, Khamis al Jabri, Mahmood al Saadi, Mohammed al Maqbali, Ismail al Haidi, and the two foreign professionals, Oliveira Pajandan and Gabriel.
Meanwhile, the Majees Club delegation is led by Hashim al Farsi. The technical and administrative team includes Abdullah al Barmani (administrator), Nicolas Voznouka (head coach), Ali bin Khalfan al Kindi and Abdulaziz bin Ahmed al Qasimi (assistant coaches), Hussain bin Ali al Ajmi (physiotherapist), and Hilal bin Rashid al Mufraji(accompanying referee), along with 13 players: Ahmed al Hosni, Khalid al Maqbali, Hamad al Maamari, Hilal al Maqbali, Mohammed al Balushi, Abdullah al Shibli, Waleed al Badi, Abdullah al Shezawi, Majed al Shibli, Ali al Shibli, Yousuf al Shibli, Ibrahim al Mizaini and Alexandra.
Al Seeb head coach Jamal al Maamari credited the club’s recent achievements to the strong support of the Board of Directors, led by HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, and his son, HH Sayyid Malik, as well as all board members. He emphasised that success is the result of a fully integrated system that involves the administration, coaching staff, players, and supporters.
He added that Al Seeb has become a major force in domestic and international competitions and a proud ambassador of Omani volleyball, thanks to its strong performances in Gulf, West Asian, and Arab tournaments. He noted that the team is accustomed to competing against elite Arab clubs.
Regarding the group stage, Al Maamari said it is very strong but familiar, explaining that the initial objective is to qualify for the second round before pushing deeper into the competition. He also confirmed that the team held a closed training camp after the end of the domestic league, focusing on physical, technical and tactical preparation.
On the other hand, Majees player Hamad bin Khamis al Maamari said he is proud to represent his club in this major Arab event, describing it as both an important milestone and a big responsibility. He added that Majees aims not only to participate but to compete strongly and showcase the progress of Omani volleyball, stressing that all players are determined to deliver positive results and leave a lasting mark on the championship.
