AL MUDHAIBI: The Environment Authority in Al Sharqiyah North Governorate organised an environmental seminar in Al Mudhaibi titled 'Release of the Arabian Oryx... Towards Sustainable Biodiversity.'

Eng Said bin Nasser al Abdali, Director of the Environment Department in Al Sharqiyah North, highlighted the significance of the seminar as a reflection of Oman’s commitment to biodiversity protection and wildlife sustainability.

He noted that the release of the Arabian Oryx marks a milestone in reintroduction efforts and the restoration of ecological balance in its natural habitats.

The seminar featured two scientific papers. The first explored 'Biodiversity as a Pillar of Sustainable Environmental Development', addressing the concept of biodiversity, its environmental, economic, and social importance, the challenges it faces, and national efforts to safeguard it.

The second paper reviewed the 'Reintroduction of Wild Antelopes to Their Natural Habitats (Al Reem 2)' project, detailing its stages, objectives, and anticipated environmental impact.

The event was attended by Shaikh Saud bin Mohammed al Hinai, Wali of Al Mudhaibi, alongside officials from government agencies and environmental and wildlife stakeholders. - ONA
