Al Bashayer dominate Salalah as Al Seeb beat Nizwa in finals opener

MUSCAT: The first round of the final stage of the Oman Basketball League for the 2025–2026 season featured two thrilling matches, producing a dominant win for Al Bashayer over Salalah (110–27), while Al Seeb overcame Nizwa (84–57), in an evening that confirmed the readiness of the top teams to battle for the title.


With these results, Al Bashayer moved to 10 points, Al Seeb to 9 points, while Nizwa remained on 7 points and Salalah on 6.

Al Bashayer entered the opening game with clear determination and imposed their tempo from the opening minutes, racing to a 13–0 lead in the first four minutes thanks to strong defensive pressure and fast transitions into attack. They continued their dominance with accurate perimeter shooting, highlighted by a three-pointer from Osama al Riyami, along with contributions from Hadid Bait Bakhit, stretching the margin to 20 points.


Salalah tried to respond through a three-pointer by Faisal Abdulnabi and baskets from Ayman Mustahil and Ahmed al Jahwari, but Al Bashayer still closed the first quarter comfortably ahead, 26–7.


In the second quarter, Al Bashayer maintained their offensive momentum, adding nine points in the first two minutes to extend the lead to 35–7, before Qaisar al Balushi hit a three for Salalah. However, Al Bashayer remained in control and went into halftime leading 51–11.


The gap continued to widen in the third quarter, reaching 66–17 and then 77–17 by the end of the period, as Al Bashayer clearly outperformed their opponents in defensive organisation and quick offensive execution.


In the fourth quarter, Al Bashayer added another 33 points compared to Salalah’s 10, sealing a resounding 110–27 victory in one of the biggest results of the season.


The match was officiated by international referee Thani al Khalasi (first referee), Rashid al Mushaifri (second referee), and Taha al Amri (third referee), with Juma al Hinai, Yaqoub al Nadabi, and Mousa al Siyabi at the table.


Al Seeb vs Nizwa


In the second match, Al Seeb made a positive start through two free throws by Mamadou Badji, before Nizwa replied with a three-pointer from Basel al Subhi. Al Seeb quickly regained control through the strong performances of Mamadou, Ayman al Harmi, and Al Waqas al Hinai, finishing the first quarter ahead 24–12.


In the second quarter, Nizwa tried to reduce the deficit through points from Adam al Hinai and Hussain al Kindi, but Al Seeb kept scoring through Rashid al Zuhaibi, Mamadou, and Al Waqas al Hinai, going into halftime with a 44–30 lead.


The third quarter saw clear dominance from Al Seeb, who scored 23 points against just 7 for Nizwa, stretching the margin to 67–35.


In the fourth quarter, Nizwa improved and scored 20 points compared to 17 for Al Seeb, but the large gap was enough to secure Al Seeb’s victory at 84–57.


The game was officiated by Essam al Siyabi, Mazin al Hilali, and Taha al Amri, with Juma al Hinai and Mahmoud al Ajmi serving as table officials.
