MUSCAT: The National Committee for Family Affairs held its second meeting of 2025 on Sunday, chaired by Dr Laila bint Ahmed al Najjar, Minister of Social Development and Chairperson of the Committee. The meeting focused on the stability of the Omani family and the enhancement of social cohesion.


During the session, the Committee discussed national efforts dedicated to child protection and the support of relevant legislative frameworks. These efforts aim to provide a safe and supportive environment for child development while protecting them from various risks.


The Committee reviewed several initiatives designed to strengthen community prevention, including plans to prepare integrated national programmes focused on protecting children from the risks of unsafe use of social media and technology and raising awareness regarding the dangers of e-cigarettes within the community and the school environment.


Furthermore, the Committee discussed its annual plan to develop and qualify the skills of the multi-disciplinary expert team for family criminal cases. This team, comprised of representatives from various relevant authorities, aims to enhance professional efficiency and enable members to perform their duties effectively. — ONA
