QURAYAT: Nama Water Services company is engaged in building a water purification plant of Wadi Dayqah Dam in the Wilayat of Qurayat.
The Wadi Dayqah Dam stands out as one of the Sultanate of Oman’s vital projects that has a developmental impact.
It serves as one of the basic pillars for diversifying sources of water production and raising the readiness of the supply system during emergency situations.
Eng Nadia al Balushi, director of projects on partnership with the private sector at Nama Water, said that the progress rate in the first phase of the project has so far stood at 20 per cent, which covers design and planning works.
She pointed out that the second phase, set to begin in January 2026, represents the practical implementation stage and constitutes 80 per cent of the total tasks of the project.
The project is scheduled to be completed in accordance with the approved timetable in March 2027, she said.
Eng Nadia said that the project is being implemented through a strategic partnership with the private sector within the context of a “build-own-and-operate system” for a period of 20 years.
The plant’s production capacity will stand at 65,000 cubic metres per day. This will enhance the flexibility of the water system and augment the reliability of the water supply chain. - ONA
