Muscat, Dec 19

Round 8 of the Jindal Oman Football League saw a flurry of goals, with 14 scored across five matches, further intensifying the race for the top spot as Seeb and Al Nahda continued their winning streaks.

Seeb maintained their strong presence in the title race after securing a deserved 3–0 victory away to Sur in the match held at Sur Sports Complex. Seeb imposed their superiority throughout the encounter, capitalising on their technical advantage and high level of organisation to collect three valuable points, lifting their tally to 19 points at the top of the standings. Sur, meanwhile, continued to struggle and slipped to 12th place with four points.

Nasser al Rawahi scored a brace for Seeb in the 38th and 42nd minutes, before Abdulaziz al Muqbali completed the scoring with a third goal in the 86th minute. After a relatively balanced start from both sides, Seeb gradually took control through good positioning and organised movement, while Sur relied mainly on defensive play and counterattacks that lacked real threat. The hosts’ task became even more difficult after Abdulrahman al Braiki was sent off early in the second half, allowing Seeb to manage the game comfortably until the final whistle.

AL NASR EDGE OMAN CLUB

In the match between Al Nasr and Oman Club at Al Saada Sports Complex, the contest was evenly balanced for most periods, featuring a clear midfield battle and mutual attempts to gain control. Both teams began cautiously, with Al Nasr focusing on possession while Oman Club adopted a compact defensive setup and relied on quick counterattacks.

Oman Club made the most of one such counterattack when Adnan al Raqadi opened the scoring in the 39th minute, capitalising on a rebound from the goalkeeper to give his side a 1–0 lead at half-time. At the start of the second half, Al Nasr raised their attacking tempo and applied sustained pressure on goalkeeper Abdulaziz al Hassani, varying their play through the wings and long-range efforts.

This pressure paid off in the 64th minute when Oman Club defender Basel al Rawahi inadvertently turned a cross into his own net, levelling the score and increasing the intensity in the closing stages. Al Nasr continued to push forward and eventually snatched the winning goal in the 85th minute through Fahd Adel, following a well-organised counterattack. The win lifted Al Nasr to 16 points in third place, while Oman Club remained on 10 points in seventh.

AL SHABAB NET LATE WINNER

At Sohar Sports Complex, Al Shabab claimed a dramatic 2–1 victory over hosts Saham in a match decided in the dying moments. Al Shabab opened the scoring in the 25th minute through Musab al Maamari, before Saham equalised in the 60th minute via Ali al Hashmi. As the match appeared to be heading for a draw, professional player Maliko Kenian Markini scored the decisive goal in stoppage time (93rd minute), raising Al Shabab’s tally to 12 points in sixth place, while Saham stayed on 10 points in eighth.

AL NAHDA BEAT SOHAR

Al Nahda also continued their pursuit of the top spot with a dramatic 2–1 stoppage-time victory over Sohar. Amir Alaa scored for Sohar, while Harib al Saadi and Thani al Rashidi netted for Al Nahda. The win took Al Nahda to 19 points in second place, level on points with leaders Seeb but behind on goal difference, while Sohar remained fifth with 13 points.

In another match, Bahla secured an important 2–0 win over Al Khabourah, reaching 15 points in fourth place. Al Khabourah stayed on six points in 11th position, as Round 8 concluded with results that further heightened competition at both ends of the league table.
