DOHA: The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organisation (ALECSO) has enlisted the Centre of Research in Environmental Science and Technology (CEEST) at the National University of Science and Technology on ALECSO's list of Distinguished Arab Research Centres for 2025–2026 in the field of Renewable Energy. The announcement was made during an official ceremony held at Hamad bin Khalifa University in the State of Qatar.
The centre was selected after competing with 35 Arab research centres, including five research centres from the Sultanate of Oman. This inclusion grants the centre strategic advantages that include official Arab recognition, training and development programmes for researchers, and technical and financial support. Additionally, it expands opportunities for Arab and international cooperation and the dissemination of the centre's achievements on ALECSO's platforms.
This success comes within the framework of the efforts exerted by the Oman National Commission for Education, Culture and Science in supporting Omani research and researchers across various scientific fields. It also represents a new addition to the journey of the National University of Science and Technology, reinforcing its role in leading applied research in the fields of environment and renewable energy in line with Oman Vision 2040. - ONA
