MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman and Burkina Faso are moving to deepen bilateral economic and investment cooperation, following high-level talks held in Muscat between Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso.
The meeting focused on exploring new avenues for collaboration in sectors of mutual interest, strengthening trade exchange and encouraging reciprocal investments that support sustainable economic growth in both countries.
The two sides reviewed ways to facilitate closer business engagement and enhance cooperation frameworks that could unlock investment opportunities and improve market access.
Discussions also highlighted the importance of exchanging expertise and best practices, particularly in the commercial, industrial and investment fields. Both ministers stressed the need to strengthen communication channels between public and private sector institutions to support joint ventures and private sector-led initiatives.
Al Yousef reaffirmed Oman’s commitment to expanding its economic partnerships with African countries, noting that such cooperation aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040. The national strategy places strong emphasis on economic diversification, improving the competitiveness of the business environment and attracting high-quality foreign investment across priority sectors.
The talks form part of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion’s broader efforts to strengthen Oman’s international economic relations and build strategic partnerships that contribute to sustainable development. By engaging with emerging African markets such as Burkina Faso, Oman aims to widen its global economic footprint while supporting mutually beneficial growth and long-term cooperation between the two countries. — ONA
