

MAQSHIN: The Wilayat of Maqshin in Dhofar Governorate witnessed the activities of the Mandar Al Dhibyan Cultural Heritage Forum under the slogan 'Winter Gate'. The forum included a rich programme of cultural, heritage and artistic activities.
The forum was organised by the Office of the Governor of Maqshin in cooperation with the General Directorate of Culture, Sports and Youth in the governorate, along with several government and private institutions. It aims to revitalise winter tourism, enhance economic returns for the local community and highlight traditional arts and crafts associated with the desert environment.
Activities included the Frankincense Caravan, poetry evenings, performances of the traditional art of Al Mankous, and exhibitions of handicrafts and heritage models reflecting the details of Bedouin life. The programme also featured folk games, cultural segments, milking and beauty contests, and an accompanying exhibition for productive families.
Awad bin Salem Masan, Deputy Governor of Maqshin, said the forum seeks to showcase the heritage, cultural and tourism assets of the area, known for its sand dunes, Bedouin heritage and distinctive winter atmosphere. He noted that government efforts continue to develop the sandy areas through an extensive road network.
He added that the forum is supported by the Office of the Governor of Dhofar, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and Dhofar Municipality, in addition to several public and private institutions, contributing to its success and to promoting Maqshin as a growing winter tourism destination that has seen increasing interest from visitors from Europe, Asia and the US. - ONA
