Taxi owners get fine exemption

Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT) has announced an exemption to beneficiaries of land transport services in settling fines resulting from violations of the provisions of the Land Transport Law and its Implementing Regulations for fines due before February 18, 2025
These include a 100% exemption from fines for individuals, including taxi and light transport vehicle owners, and  70% exemption from fines for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with the possibility of paying the remaining amount in installments over six months.
It also offers a 50% exemption for large companies, with the possibility of paying the remaining amount in installments over six months.

The Ministry also added that, for SMEs and large companies, in the event of cancellation of an activity or suspension of commercial registration, all fines will be cancelled, provided that at least 1 year has passed since the cancellation or suspension.
