Shura to discuss partnership pact between Oman, India

MUSCAT: The Majlis Ash’shura will discuss this Wednesday the draft Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the Government of the Republic of India, referred from the Council of Ministers. This was stated by Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed al Nadabi, Secretary-General of Majlis Ash’shura, who noted that the Council will hold its fifth regular session of the third ordinary convening (2026-2027) of the tenth term of the Council (2023-2027) this Wednesday.


The session will discuss the view of the Economic and Financial Committee regarding the draft Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the Government of the Republic of India, based on the report prepared by the committee after studying the agreement's articles and the objectives, as well as areas of economic cooperation it includes between the two countries, in addition to the observations and views raised by the relevant authorities during the meetings held with the committee, Al Nadabi explained.

He pointed out that the session will also discuss the report of the Education, Scientific Research and Innovation Committee concerning the desire to address behavioural problems among school students. He clarified that the committee reviewed the educational and technical aspects related to the topic in order to formulate recommendations that would contribute to enhancing the quality of school education in the Sultanate of Oman.


During the session, the report of the Information, Tourism and Culture Committee concerning the desire to hold an auction for selling cultural heritage artefacts will also be reviewed. The committee's report will include a study of mechanisms for organising auctions for selling cultural and heritage artefacts and the governance frameworks regulating them, in addition to assessing their cultural and social returns. - ONA
