MUSCAT: Oman’s total natural gas production, including domestic output and imports, increased by 0.8 per cent to 47.5 billion cubic metres by the end of October 2025, compared with 47.1 billion cubic metres during the same period last year, according to figures issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Growth was driven primarily by a sharp rise in associated gas production, which surged by 10.9 per cent to 10.6 billion cubic metres, reflecting higher output linked to oil production activities. In contrast, non-associated gas production, including imports, declined by 1.7 per cent to 36.9 billion cubic metres.
On the consumption side, gas usage across sectors showed mixed trends. Consumption by industrial projects fell by 3.5 per cent to 23.24 billion cubic metres, while gas demand from power generation plants increased by 1.6 per cent to 13.13 billion cubic metres, highlighting steady growth in electricity demand.
Gas consumption in oil fields, including industrial areas and major companies such as Oman Mining Company and Oman Cement Company, rose by 10.3 per cent to 10.91 billion cubic metres. Meanwhile, usage in other industrial areas, including institutions such as Sultan Qaboos University and the Ministry of Defence, increased by 12.6 per cent to 234.5 million cubic metres.
The figures underline natural gas’s central role in supporting Oman’s power generation, industrial activity and broader economic development. — ONA
