The Sultanate of Oman made a stunning impression at the inaugural World Floral Summit, held from November 24–27 at the Art Design Centre in Shenzhen, southern China’s Guangdong Province.
Representing her country with pride, Devyani Sampat showcased Omani artistry to an international audience, taking part in the summit organised by the World Floral Culture Designers Association.
Nearly 200 top floral designers from over 20 countries, including Hong Kong, China, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Pakistan, India and Hungary, participated in this global celebration of floral art and culture.
The summit featured live demonstrations by champion designers, an international forum discussing industry trends, certified competitions, educational workshops, and exhibitions, including master floral art displays, unique body floral art performances and a vibrant catwalk show.
For the International Floral Masters live demonstrations, Devyani created a striking 6-foot by 3-foot floral installation titled ‘Sunshine Oman’. Using locally sourced materials from Oman, such as Dead Sea pods, coconut leaves, areca pan carvings, and shells, she highlighted the country’s natural beauty. Under the mentorship of a Hungarian design master, Devyani’s work earned high praise from the organisers.
She also participated in a floral fashion show, wearing a pink dress complemented with headgear and a fresh chrysanthemum flower umbrella, blending creativity and tradition on the ramp.
Devyani’s contribution was recognised with a certificate signed by Sylvia Yim, International Chairman of the World Floral Summit, acknowledging her role in this landmark international event.
A devoted practitioner of Ikebana — the refined Japanese art of flower arrangement — Devyani has been part of Muscat’s artistic circles for over five decades. For more than 20 years, she has translated emotion and inspiration into floral compositions that go beyond mere bouquets, creating meaningful expressions of life, rhythm and culture.
