Muscat: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) took legal action against several companies found to be selling unauthorised telecommunications devices that contribute to the creation of unlicensed networks.

The authority said the measures come as part of its ongoing efforts to protect the interests of beneficiaries, safeguard the confidentiality of their data, and ensure the quality of telecommunications services in the Sultanate of Oman.

According to the TRA, the violating companies were supplying non-approved equipment that enables the establishment of illegal networks. The authority confirmed that all necessary legal procedures have been initiated against the entities involved.

The TRA reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring the market, preventing unauthorised practices, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements to maintain a secure and reliable telecommunications environment in the country.
