MUSCAT: The events for the international evaluation of the National Search and Rescue Team commenced on Sunday.

This step reflects the commitment of the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) to developing the national response system in accordance with international standards. The events took place at the Authority's headquarters under the auspices of Dr Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health.

The opening ceremony included a documentary film about the Authority and a special film about the Search and Rescue Team, highlighting its field efforts locally, its efficiency in dealing with incidents, and its international participation in relief missions, including the Nepal earthquake in 2015 and the Türkiye earthquake in 2023, affirming its professionalism and adherence to international standards.

The event featured an introductory tour of the laboratories and classrooms, a review of the latest equipment of specialised teams, and the launch of vehicles for hazardous materials incidents, emphasising the Authority's advanced readiness and high efficiency in dealing with various incidents. - ONA
