Tent pegging’s rapid global rise has placed the International Tent Pegging Federation at a pivotal moment, with major competitions leading to the 2026 World Cup and expanding qualifiers making its development efforts more vital than ever.

Tent pegging is closer than ever to Olympic recognition, supported by growing global participation and strengthened regulations, with a proposed partnership with the International Horseback Archery Federation further boosting its international visibility.

Mohammed bin Issa al Fairooz, President of the International Tent Pegging Federation, outlined the Federation’s strategic vision for the coming years, covering competition structures, Olympic ambitions, international partnerships, and the sport’s expanding global road map.

“We have introduced technical changes to competition formats and committees, in addition to an enhanced media and production strategy that will elevate the championship into a true global spectacle. The event must reflect the real value and heritage of tent pegging and stand as a model for major international championships.”

“Host countries were selected based on rigorous criteria covering field quality, infrastructure, logistics, safety, and readiness of technical and refereeing teams. Success depends not only on operations but also on audience reach and media impact.”

On the potential collaboration with the International Horseback Archery Federation, he noted:

“This initiative is a strategic step to promote traditional equestrian sports worldwide. A main committee supported by joint technical teams is already in place to explore avenues of cooperation.”

Al Fairooz concluded, “We have made tangible progress with the International Olympic Committee. Outlining requirements such as expanding the number of participating countries, regular continental championships, continued rule development, and strengthened anti-doping programme.”
