Seeb Club secured an important win over Nizwa with a 64–53 triumph in the Oman Basketball League 2025–26. The match, held at the secondary hall of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, lifted Seeb’s tally to four points in the standings.
The opening quarter was exciting, with both teams exchanging baskets, before Seeb gradually took control thanks to standout scoring from Abdulrahman al Shuaibi (20 points), Al Waqas al Hinai (15 points), Rashid al Zhiyabi (14 points) and Mazin al Hadidi (13 points).
For Nizwa, Bassel al Subhi led with 13 points, while foreign players Nikola and Kingsley added 11 points each.
Nizwa began strongly with their American import Kingsley Ngwajiosek, scoring the first basket under the rim. Seeb quickly responded through Rashid al Zhiyabi, who showed great energy in transition.
The competitiveness continued as Bassel al Subhi finished well near the basket, while Zakaria al Wahibi sank a confident three-pointer to put Seeb ahead 5–4.
Seeb then increased their defensive pressure, forcing turnovers and launching fast breaks. Mazin al Hadidi converted key points in transition, followed by successful drives from Al Zhiyabi and Al Shuaibi to widen the gap.
Nizwa attempted to stay close through Kingsley’s inside scoring, but Seeb closed the first quarter ahead 17–12.
In the second quarter, Ahmed al Sanani opened the scoring for Seeb, before Adam al Hinai hit a deep three-pointer for Nizwa and Abdullah al Qasmi added two points to make it 19–17.
Seeb restored momentum with the efforts of Hassan al Farahi, while Nikola answered with a mid-range shot that brought Nizwa closer 21–19.
The basket trading continued at a high pace until Seeb secured a half-time lead of 30–26.
STRONG FINISH
The third quarter saw Seeb raise their focus. Al Shuaibi added valuable points and Mazin al Hadidi drilled a three-pointer to make it 41–28.
Although Nizwa tried to respond through Kingsley and Al Subhi, Seeb maintained control and ended the quarter ahead 46–36.
At the start of the final quarter, Seeb confirmed their intention to finish strongly as Al Shuaibi scored again.
Nizwa attempted a comeback with a free throw from Saeed Matouni and a big three-pointer from Bassel al Subhi, trimming the gap to 48–40.
But Seeb reacted instantly. Marwan al Hadidi scored inside after a smooth assist, and both Al Shuaibi and Al Zhiyabi continued adding points through quick movements behind Nizwa’s defence.
Despite Nizwa’s late efforts, Seeb’s composure in key moments secured a well-deserved win 64–53.
The match was officiated by international referees: Issam al Siabi (first referee), Rashid al Mushifri (second referee) and Mazin al Hilali (third referee).
On the scorer’s table were Maryam al Zadjali, Yaqoub al Nadabi and Hafidh Awlad Ahmed.
