

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Education (MoE) on Thursday honoured the Green Schools for the academic year 2024/2025, under the auspices of Majid bin Said al Bahri, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Education for Administrative and Financial Affairs.
The ceremony witnessed the honouring of 50 schools from various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman in appreciation of their contributions to achieving the project's goals by implementing programmes and activities that promote the concepts of Greening Education related to Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Target 7 concerning Education for Sustainable Development.
In a speech on behalf of Unesco, Julia Hayes, Head of the Education for Sustainable Development Section, praised the Sultanate of Oman's efforts in implementing the Greening Education Partnership initiative emanating from the Transforming Education Summit 2022, stressing that the Sultanate of Oman is considered one of the pioneering countries in this field.
The ceremony included the signing of cooperation programmes with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), Sohar Aluminium, Shell Oman, and the Omani Environmental Services Holding Company "be'ah”. - ONA
