

MUSCAT: Graduates of the 36th cohort from the College of Medicine and Health Sciences and the College of Nursing took the medical and nursing oath on Sunday in a solemn ceremony that marked their official entry into the healthcare profession.
Held under the auspices of Dr Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health, and attended by HH Sayyid Dr Fahd bin Al Julanda al Said, Vice-Chancellor of SQU, the ceremony brought together dignitaries, faculty members, and proud families.
Dr Huda bint Salim al Numaniyah, Dean of the College of Nursing, delivered an address highlighting the profound trust and responsibility placed upon the graduates.
She noted that the oath represents a covenant upheld with sincerity and that the knowledge and values the graduates gained from an integrated framework aligned with SQU’s mission to prepare distinguished, ethical and compassionate healthcare professionals.
The ceremony also featured two student speeches.
Ahmed bin Mohammed Bait Jaaboub, speaking on behalf of the graduates of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, expressed pride in the milestone and described the study of medicine as a journey of exploration marked by challenges that inspire mastery and resilience.
Basma bint Sulayyim al Mabsaliyah, representing the College of Nursing graduates, described nursing as a calling where compassion takes form, hope finds refuge, and those who carry its light never fail those seeking healing.
Following the addresses, the graduates of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences took the medical oath, led by Dr Nasser bin Khalfan al Sibani, Assistant Dean for Clinical Medical Affairs.
The College of Nursing graduates then took their nursing oath, led by Dr Maryam bint Mohammed al Harrasiyah, Assistant Dean for Clinical Medical Affairs at the College of Nursing.
