The Oman women’s national 3x3 basketball team achieved an impressive milestone by clinching third place at the Gulf Championship, following a well-deserved 9–7 victory over Kuwait. The match was intense from the outset, with Omani players showing strong focus and disciplined defensive organisation that enabled them to maintain their lead despite Kuwait’s attempts to come back. The performance reflected the team’s growing technical level and determination on the court.
The team was led by coach Wafa Zaghdood throughout the Bahrain training camp and the championship. The squad included:
Shams Al Duha bint Khalil al Khanjiyah, Fatma bint Said al Numaniyah, Nareen bint Mohammed al Maamariyah, Ruba bint Saleem al Kalbaniyah, Reema bint Majid al Mughairiyah, Zainab bint Khalifa al Busaidiyah, Malak bint Sulaiman al Salimiyah, Sayyidah Lamar bint Mohammed al Busaidiyah, Reem bint Sulaiman al Shirawiyah, and Aisha bint Hossam al Yafeiyah.
YOUTH TEAM SHOWS STRONG PERFORMANCE, FINISHES FOURTH
Meanwhile, the Oman youth national 3x3 basketball team finished fourth after a hard-fought match against Bahrain A, losing narrowly 14–16. The game was highly competitive with rapid point exchanges, but Bahrain capitalised on small details in the final seconds to secure the win. Despite the result, Oman’s players delivered a commendable performance that reflected significant effort and promising development.
The youth team was coached by Mohammed bin Mubarak al Owaisi, and the roster included:
Mishal bin Abdulmunim Qafqaf, Muhab bin Ramadan al Humaysim, Mazin bin Mohammed al Owaisi, Ibrahim bin Ismail al Balushi, Azd bin Al Munthir al Bahlani, Azzan bin Talal al Ajmi, Adam bin Sulaiman al Hinai, and Akram bin Hamad al Rashdi.
The administrative staff included team manager Ghassan al Busaidy and physiotherapist Sulaiman bin Salmeen al Musallami.
The Bahrain camp served as a key preparation stage for both youth and women’s teams ahead of their upcoming participation in the Arab 3x3 Basketball Championship, hosted at Al Mouj Muscat.
FIRST MEN’S TEAM CONCLUDES BAHRAIN CAMP AHEAD OF ARAB CHAMPIONSHIP
The Oman First men’s national 3x3 basketball team also wrapped up its external training camp in Bahrain, held as part of preparations for the Arab Championship to be hosted in Muscat.
The men’s squad featured eight players: Ahmed bin Rashid al Hilali, Hadeed bin Abdulhakim Beit Bakhit, Osama bin Rashid al Riyami, Abdulrahman bin Hamood al Maamari, Ahmed bin Khalid al Sinani, Rashid bin Mohammed al Zuhailmi, Ahmed bin Hamood al Maamari, and Abdulrahman bin Mohammed al Shuaibi.
