Employees are entitled to a reduction of two working hours per day, with full salary or wage, in accordance with the provisions of Article 50 of the Law of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, issued under Royal Decree No. 92/2025.

The law applies if an employee or worker with a moderate or severe disability, if employee or worker who provides care for a person with a disability, provided that the person under their care (their child, spouse, or parent) has a moderate or severe disability, and that this is supported by an official document issued by the competent authority.

Documents required to be submitted to the employer to qualify for reduced working hours include submitting proof that they are a person with a moderate or severe disability, through the disability card issued by the Ministry of Social Development.

An employee or worker who is not a person with a disability (the caregiver),  must submit proof of relationship to the person with a disability (child, parent, or spouse), proof that the person with a disability is classified as having a moderate or severe disability, according to the approved assessment and proof that the employee is the caregiver assigned to that person, supported by an official document issued by the competent authority.
