

Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, received Dr Rima Karami, Minister of Education and Higher Education of Lebanon, who is on an official visit to Oman to enhance bilateral cooperation in the education sector.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed priority areas of collaboration, including strategic planning, development of educational policies and programmes, digital transformation in educational administration, supervision and evaluation mechanisms, quality assurance in basic and secondary education, and blended and distance learning. They also discussed the latest developments related to the memorandum of understanding between the two ministries.
An expanded session followed, attended by the under-secretaries and specialists from both sides. The Lebanese delegation delivered a presentation on the education sector in Lebanon, while the Omani side presented an overview of school education in Oman and its future prospects.
As part of her official visit, Dr Rima Karami also met HH Sayyid Dr Fahd bin Al Julanda al Said, Vice-Chancellor of SQU, along with university officials and academics. Discussions centred on strengthening national identity, challenges facing the education and higher education sectors, leadership development in academic institutions, and aligning public policy with educational priorities.
The meeting highlighted global trends shaping the future of education, including the impact of the virtual world on cultural and ethical identity and the growing role of artificial intelligence in curriculum development, student assessment and academic performance. The two sides also explored cooperation between SQU and Lebanese universities, including postgraduate opportunities, international student programmes and admission frameworks in both countries.
