

MUSCAT: The Omani Society for Human Resource Management (OSHRM) celebrated outstanding achievements in the field of human resources during a ceremony held in Muscat. The event honoured institutions and individuals who won the Human Resource Excellence Award, under the auspices of Eng Salim bin Nasser al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals.
The awards seek to recognise institutions that have demonstrated exemplary practices and innovative strategies in human resource management, while promoting the exchange of best initiatives and nurturing a culture of continuous development in the workplace. It also reflects the growing importance of investing in human capital, fostering sustainable and innovative work environments across both public and private sectors, and empowering small and medium enterprises.
Dr Ghalib bin Saif al Hosni, Chairman of OSHRM’s Board of Directors, emphasised that the awards serve as a national platform to honour institutions and individuals contributing to the advancement of work environments and the strengthening of empowerment and innovation in HR management. He explained that the evaluation process was based on comprehensive criteria encompassing creativity, institutional impact, sustainability, leadership, employee engagement, digital adoption and workplace well-being.
Dr Al Hosni noted that this initiative marks a significant step in positioning Oman as a nation that embraces best global HR practices and encourages organisations to view human capital as the foundation of sustainable development.
Among the honourees, the Civil Aviation Authority received the Human Resource Innovation Award in the government sector, while Omantel and Saudi Telecom Company were recognised in the private sector category for their pioneering HR initiatives and advanced systems for talent management and performance enhancement.
Occidental Oman was honoured with the Digital Transformation Award for integrating technology to optimise HR operations, while the Health and Well-being in the Workplace Award was presented to Sohar Port and Freezone and Oman Data Park for their initiatives promoting employee wellness and a balanced work culture.
In the small and medium enterprise category, the National Technology Group earned the Human Resource Excellence Award for SMEs for its effective HR strategies, performance management frameworks, employee engagement efforts and use of modern HR technologies. In the academic category, Dr Said bin Ali al Hasani received the OSHRM Research Grant for the Best Academic Paper in Human Resources.
Leadership excellence was also recognised during the ceremony, with Ashraf bin Hamad al Maamari, CEO of OQ Group, and Said bin Abdullah al Mandhari, CEO of Ithca Group, receiving the Best CEO Award for their visionary leadership and contribution to advancing HR practices within their organisations.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) was named Best Government HR Team, while Omantel received the same recognition in the private sector for fostering a supportive and high-performing work culture.
Faisal bin Ali al Maamari from OQ Gas Networks was recognised as Best Human Resource Manager for his strategic leadership and innovative contributions to organisational culture, while Rawan al Ajeeli received the Best Generation Z Employee Award for her creativity, commitment and potential within her organisation.
The ceremony also featured the unveiling of OSHRM’s new corporate identity and the signing of a strategic partnership agreement with Tharwah Company from Saudi Arabia, signalling a new phase of regional collaboration in HR development.
The event was attended by a wide range of senior officials, executives, and HR professionals from both the public and private sectors, reflecting the growing importance of human capital as a driving force in Oman’s journey toward sustainable growth and excellence.
