

MUSCAT: The Arab Golf Championship for men, presented by ANB Bank, officially began on Sunday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, organised by the Saudi Golf Federation under the supervision of the Arab Golf Federation, The event runs from November 9 to 15, bringing together golfers from 13 Arab countries, including Oman.
This year’s tournament marks the Golden Jubilee of the Arab Golf Federation 1975–2025, celebrating five decades of dedication and progress in developing the sport across the Arab world.
Representing Oman are Ahmed bin Faisal al Jahdhami, Azzan al Rumhi, Ahmed al Wahibi, Badr al Amri and Rashad al Harthy, under the guidance of coach Jonathan. The Omani team competes alongside players from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, Egypt, Tunisia, Palestine, Lebanon, Libya and Morocco.
Team captain Ahmed bin Faisal al Jahdhami expressed confidence in the squad’s readiness: “We are proud to represent Oman in this milestone championship, it’s an excellent opportunity to gain experience and demonstrate the steady progress of Omani golf at the Arab level.”
Team-mate Azzan al Rumhi added: “Competing among the region’s elite players motivates us to perform at our best and aim for top positions.”
In celebration of the federation’s 50th anniversary, the championship also features a special exhibition documenting the history of Arab golf since 1975, along with the Arab Golf Federation’s General Assembly meeting, during which future strategies and new board elections will take place.
The event will conclude on Saturday, November 15, with an official awards ceremony honouring the winners across all categories marking a historic milestone that bridges the legacy of the past with the aspirations of Arab golf’s future.
