MUSCAT: Under the auspices of Dr Laila bint Ahmed al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, the Oman Society of Engineers, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development, inaugurated the Omani Women Engineers Forum under the theme 'Engineering Across Generations' on November 10-11.

The two-day event brought together pioneering female engineers and leaders from Oman and across the Arab and Gulf regions to enhance professional development, exchange expertise, and highlight women’s growing contributions to national and regional development.

Eng Fouad bin Abdullah al Kindi, Chairman of the Oman Society of Engineers, said the forum reaffirms the Society’s commitment to recognising the significant achievements of women engineers, past and present, and to supporting their future leadership roles.

He noted the collaboration with the Arab Women Engineers Committee of the Federation of Arab Engineers as a step towards strengthening Arab engineering integration and advancing knowledge sharing.

Eng Rahma al Musharifi, Head of the Omani Women Engineers Committee, emphasised that the forum serves as a national platform connecting women engineers across Oman.

Prof Khalifa al Jabri, Sultan Qaboos University, highlighted the importance of recognising women’s vital role in shaping the engineering landscape and called for recommendations to enhance their participation in decision-making and professional unions.

Featuring more than 24 scientific papers from Oman and across the Arab world, the forum explored themes of professional growth, sustainability, and the impact of digital and climate transformations on the engineering field.

With participation from leading institutions — including the Federation of Arab Engineers, the Arab Women Engineers Committee, and the Arab Council for Creativity and Innovation — the forum stands as a testament to regional collaboration and the evolving leadership of women in engineering and innovation.
