RABAT: The Sultanate of Oman is participating as the Guest of Honour in the 30th edition of the Rabat International Author Film Festival, in celebration of the Omani cinematic movement and Oman’s efforts in supporting cultural and creative industries. The festival continues until November 14.

The opening ceremony witnessed a special tribute to Omani cinema, attended by Khalid Salim Bamkhalef, Ambassador of Oman to Morocco, who indicated that this participation embodies the depth of the strong fraternal and historical relations between the two countries, and reflects the keenness to continuously enhance cultural and artistic cooperation.

The Oman Film Society is participating with a diverse programme that includes film screenings, seminars, and workshops, in addition to the participation of Director Ahmed al Hadhari on the International Jury, and Oman's participation in the official competition with the film 'Al Majhool' (The Unknown) by Director Mohammed al Kindi.

An Omani Cinematic Night will be held during the festival events, featuring the screening of six films that represent new creative experiences in Omani cinema. This will be accompanied by a seminar on Omani-Moroccan cinematic relations, a presentation on the 'Make Your Film in Oman' initiative, and a scientific paper on Sociology between Oman and Morocco.

This participation affirms the prominent position that Omani cinema has come to occupy in international forums, the Sultanate of Oman's continuous efforts to advance the creative industries sector, empower national talents, and solidify Oman's cultural and artistic presence on the map of Arab and international cinema. — ONA
