Validity of expat resident cards extended up to 10 years

Muscat: The Inspector General of Police and Customs has issued Decision 157/2025, amending some provisions of the Executive Regulations of the Civil Status Law.

The decision states that the validity of the residence card can be up to 10 years, from the current limit of three years, according to the categories and controls determined by the Director General, and the cardholder must renew it within 30 days from the date of its expiry.

The resident card will cost RO5 for each year for a period not exceeding RO10 years.

The replacement card for a damaged one will cost RO20.
