The Oman Tennis Association (OTA) concluded its second monthly tennis tournament for the current sports season, which ran for an entire week at the tennis courts of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher. The event saw wide participation from 70 male and female players across various age groups: under 18, under 14, under 12, under 10, and under 9. This tournament marked the second in the Association’s ongoing series for the season, with the final monthly championship scheduled to take place from November 17 for seven consecutive days.


A COMPETITIVE AND EXITING FINAL


The tournament’s final day featured the U-18 boys’ final between Abdulrahman al Rahbi and Ahmed Eyad, held under the auspices of Faisal bin Mohammed al Yousef, member of the Oman Tennis Association’s Board of Directors, and in the presence of players’ families and participants.


Ahmed Eyad delivered a dominant performance, clinching an impressive 9–1 victory, showcasing his superior skills and experience to claim the title deservedly. The match highlighted the technical progress and growing maturity of Oman’s young tennis players.


HONOURING THE WINNERS AND RECOGNISING TALENT


At the closing ceremony, the patron of the event honoured the top finishers, praising the high technical level and the wide participation from different age categories. He emphasised that these monthly tournaments serve as important preparation stages for national team players and a valuable opportunity for resident players in Oman to gain competitive experience.

Mixed U-9: 1st place, Savana Makourash; 2nd place, Said al Marjabi; 3rd place, Mohannad al Najjar; 4th place, Aditva.


VOICES FROM THE TOURNAMENT


Coach Nabeel Al Doub expressed his delight with the overall level displayed by the players, congratulating the winners for their strong performances. He affirmed that these monthly tournaments have proven their value in developing young talents and enhancing players’ readiness for international competitions, noting the visible improvement from one tournament to another due to good preparation and growing participation.


National team player Abdulrahman al Rahbi praised the tournament’s organisation and technical quality, describing it as an ideal platform for player interaction and experience exchange, adding that the Association’s consistent efforts to organise regular tournaments are significantly helping the sport’s development in Oman.


Meanwhile, Areen al Azkawi, also a national team player, expressed her happiness after winning first place, commending the high level of competition and organisation. She noted that such monthly tournaments enhance the skills and confidence of national players ahead of international competitions, and she appreciated the Oman Tennis Association and its technical staff for their continuous efforts to nurture and develop local talent.


The tournament concluded amid a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere, reflecting the Oman Tennis Association's success in promoting youth engagement and competitive excellence in the sport across the Sultanate of Oman.
